Background: illegal abduction of Olivia by her mother (my ex-wife) Tika, in Florida
Up until late 2013, Katalin Tika Van Den Hurk (“Tika”) and I shared custody of our daughter Olivia, both of us living in Oakville, as per our separation agreement, so Olivia could travel easily back and forth between our residences. But then in November 2013 Tika chose to move to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, relinquishing her shared legal access to Olivia, and leaving Olivia with me.
Then in late August 2014, when Olivia was on a supposed nine-day visit with Tika in Florida, Tika abducted Olivia and enrolled her in a Fort Lauderdale high school. I received a letter from Tika’s lawyer stating that Olivia would not be returning to my custody nor to my home in Ontario, and that she was now living permanently in Florida with Tika. My lawyer and I took this matter to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and a judge immediately granted me interim sole custody, finding that Olivia had been unlawfully detained in Fort Lauderdale by Tika. Several weeks afterwards, a second judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice endorsed the decision of the first judge, found that Tika had influenced and pressured Olivia to stay in Florida, and found that Tika had abandoned her function as a parent, especially one bound by the separation agreement.
Tumblr media
I returned home to Ontario with Olivia in early October 2014. Four judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice were involved in this matter in 2014 and 2015, all of whom ruled decisively in my favour. In March 2015, the fourth judge granted me final sole custody of Olivia until her 18th birthday in July 2017. The Florida court issued Florida court orders that enabled me to use the rulings of the Ontario court in Florida. In summary, because of Tika’s blatant and abusive actions in abducting Olivia in Florida, the Ontario Court system ruled decisively in my favour, awarding me interim and then final sole custody of Olivia. But Tika wasn’t yet done. Even though she had chosen to move to Florida with her new husband and their two children, far from Olivia and me, Tika continued to directly interfere in my sole custody of Olivia. Among other things, in late 2015 she illegally signed admission papers for Olivia to go to the University of Miami, near where she lived, and surreptitiously engaged the Floreses (and later, JFCY) to act as her agents and hide her own involvement in moving Olivia to Florida a second time. The sequence of events with the Floreses is outlined in the paragraph below:
After Tika illegally signed Olivia’s admission papers to the University of Miami, from late 2015 through April 2016 the Floreses (friends of Tika), acting on Tika’s behalf, were in constant contact with Olivia by text, phone and meetings, maligning me and urging and pushing Olivia to move out of my home and into their home nearby. During this time Tika was also in continual contact with Olivia by phone and text, pressuring Olivia to leave my home. Finally Tika and the Floreses were successful in their shameless and illegal interference with my custody and in Olivia’s and my lives, and Olivia moved into the Floreses’ home in mid-April 2016. Navigating the Role of a Custodial Parent: Balancing Challenges and Joys
Being a custodial parent comes with a unique set of responsibilities and rewards. Unlike co-parenting, where decisions are often shared, custodial parents handle the lion's share of day-to-day caregiving. This role demands resilience, adaptability, and a deep well of patience. From managing school schedules to navigating extracurricular activities, custodial parents are the steady anchors in their children’s lives.
Tumblr media
Yet, the role also brings profound joys. The everyday moments—bedtime stories, school achievements, and spontaneous laughter—forge deep, lasting bonds. While the responsibilities can be overwhelming, finding support networks and prioritizing self-care can make the journey more manageable. Embracing the small victories and celebrating milestones, both big and small, can help custodial parent stay motivated and focused on the positive impact they have on their children’s lives. Balancing the challenges with the joys helps to create a nurturing and stable environment for growth.

I just had a DPxDC crossover idea that I thought was funny.
What if every time John Constantine sold his soul he was basically agreeing to being “adopted” by the entity he was selling his soul to.
He thinks all of the entities he sold his soul to are leaving him alone because they’re too busy fighting/have a truce to not fight as long as none of them claim his soul, meanwhile he’s got like a dozen or so ghost/demon parents ready to go to court to fight for custody when he finally dies.
Danny, having been taken in as a ward by an older ghost since he technically counts as a baby ghost until he’s 100 or something, meets Constantine for the first time and is like: “Why are you 1/15th my brother?”
Bonus points if Danny is technically the big brother in ghost terms because he’s been a ghost the longest. Sure Constantine may be a little liminal but that doesn’t count he doesn’t even have a death day yet.
Like:
Danny (Certified little shit): “Baby brother why do you never come to dinner? :(”
Constantine, too sober for this: “The fuck did you just call me?”
Constantine vehemently denies any relation but they bicker like siblings.

Vampire Misunderstanding
So! Danny got adopted by Bruce Wayne, but he doesn't know that Bruce is the Batman. He is just supernaturally oblivious to all things Batman related going on in the House.
But he does notice that Bruce leaves home a lot at night, that he doesn't like to go out in the day and often has his parties at night, and once or twice he's caught Bruce with a bit if blood still splattered on his cheek.
So he comes to the only plausible conclusion. Bruce is a Vampire.
He starts trying to hint at the fact that he knows, but doesn't want to just go out and say it. What if Bruce reacts negatively to him knowing? He's dealt with enough Supernatural Beings to know that they don't like other people (and especially other supernatural beings) intruding on their lives.
So Danny decided to subtly hint at it.
He started asking questions like "So hypothetically, how would you deal with having a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?" Or "So if you had very sensitive skin that could sunburn extremely easily, how much cloud cover would you need to go outside?" And "So what's your opinion on a High-Iron Diet?"
Basically just tossing out questions and trying to Guage Bruce's reaction.
He thinks he's doing a good job!
...
Bruce is certain that he has adopted a Vampire.
Danny is a good kid, but he has a few oddities that are hard to ignore.
For one, his skin is constantly Ice Cold, but he never seens to be bothered by it. As if he was an Undead that didn't require Body Heat anymore.
He also seems to like Hanging out in the Graveyard outside, and when asked about it he says that he is comforted by the place. Just like the Vampires he has met in the past, who feel comfortable when surrounded by Death.
And of course the biggest reason for suspicion is the fact that Danny seems to be hinting at it to him.
He keeps asking stuff like "How would you deal with a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?", probably trying to hint that he is a Vampire who can't eat Garlic, or asking about easy to sunburn skin, saying that he is probably not a Daywalker.
Bruce hopes Danny will just come clean about it soon, he doesn't want to intrude upon the kid when he is so obviously nervous about how he will react.

More Baby Annabeth thoughts to ruin your day:
In the show, Echidna explains that monsters trach demigods by smelling their fear; it’s part of the hunt. Once a demigod is aware of who they are and why they’re in danger, monsters will come for them. Annabeth was constantly hunted by monsters from the age of 5. MEANING THIS LITTLE BABY ANGLE WAS SCARED AND ALL HER STEPMOTHER AND FATHER DID WAS MAKE HER FEEL LIKE ITS HER FAULT!!! SHE WAS SO ALIENATED FOR TWO YEARS AND BLAMED HERSELF!!!

So I read a prompt about how Wonder Woman found Danny in a trash can (don’t remember which one) and I was bored.
So I took that lil info and made it into an AU.
So basically, Danny get yeeted into this unknown universe and has no where to live. And no where to live means no money. No money means no food. No food means Danny can’t keep his human half sustained.
So what does he do?
Decides to not change into a human and live in a trash can.
Yes you heard that right, live in a trash can.
Because he’s a ghost, he doesn’t have to worry about the germs and stuff. But that doesn’t mean he lives in just any trash can! He lives in a clean one ☝️
AND he also decorated it with his name so other people know it’s his!
And so Danny has been here for a while now and realizes
Holy shit there’s hero’s here- you know what, why doesn’t he have hero’s back home?!
And being minorly annoyed jealous (but he’s never admitting that)he thought:
Well since there’s hero’s here already, guess I’m not needed.
.
.
.
Good. I’m tired af
And so Danny caries on his life, being content with his trash can and scaring whoever comes into his alley. It’s fun. Sure he sometimes needs to ugh overshadow people to feed his human side, but other than that.
It’s going great.
But Danny doesn’t realize that with Amity gone (or smth, you choose) which was his haunt, he slowly makes the trash can into his new haunt.
And slowly but surely, Danny’s beloved haunt trash can starts to become other worldly kinda.
Yk because of the ectoplasm.
So now Danny’s lovely trash can haunt has more space inside and- Hey Danny can actually sleep in it better!! And he got some company too!
In the form of blob ghosts.
Two actually.
They keep his trash can clean and help purifying some corrupted ectoplasm that he finds. Because for some reason this universe’s ectoplasm seems half way artificial and tastes a bit weird. Which is where the blob ghosts help out in.
Everything was great.
Danny was loving the trash can life style.
He has two blob ghosts friends. Which he named Sam and Tucker, and yea they couldn’t talk but that was fine.
He wasn’t lonely, he wasn’t. He had two very much talking friends like Sam and Tucker.
However one day two weirdly dressed people- oh they were hero’s.
Well anyway they found him, one woman stripper and one furry guy.
But it was on accident! He was just peaking out of his beloved haunt trash can, and they spotted him.
He stared, they stared back.
Then the woman stripper asked him questions, even when he said:
“Don’t mind me, have a nice day!”
But they just kept bother him and giving him weird looks and glances.
Which- rude.
Didn’t they see his mark on his haunt trash can? Obviously it means it’s his home, so they shouldn’t be bothering him still. He’s safe as can be.
Plus.
It’s not like he’s looking at them in suspicion and weirdness, I mean look at them! What kinda cheep knock off vampire fury mix and American stripper style clothing are those!
They should mind their own business!
———
Just a silly lil drawing of this lmao, don’t mind me.

Dc x Dp Prompt #23: The Custody Battle Turned Romance
A freshly resurrected Jason is found by Single Dad Danny raising a de-aged Dan and Dani who goes "surely one more kid can't hurt?" and takes him in. Danny helps him deal with his catatonia, trauma amnesia, and other side effects of being undead without the need for a Lazarus Pit.
He takes the kid to a therapist Jazz recommended and supports him thoughout his recovery. They did some bloodwork and found out pretty early on he was The Jason Todd-Wayne but then he decided not to reach out and let Jason decided what he wanted once he was recovered.
Danny, Ellie and Jordan love and treat him like family in a way he's never quite had before even with Bruce. They’re just so open and honest about their feelings and never make him feel out of place. So when Danny ask if he’d like to reconnect with the Waynes or stay with the them, Jason chooses to stay with them.
The world has moved on around them, and so has the Batfam. Jason knows about Tim (and talked through his feelings in therapy). He knows about the foundation Bruce created in his memory and the way he very publicly grieved. He witnessed the news over Nightwing nearly beating the Joker to death. He knows enough to decided it’s better to let the dead remain dead. Instead, he becomes Jason Nightingale, eldest adopted son of a mechanic in the Narrows. The family welcomes him with open arms officially accepting him as a brother and son.
Danny supports Jason to finish his high school and college education and Jason decides to be a doctor as an homage to Thomas Wayne and aspires open a free clinic like Leslie Thompkins. They get his death certificate revoked under circumstances of resurrection (which is a thing that actually exists in public documents due to the resurrections that tend to happen in the DC universe) and legally adopt him so that he can go back to school. However, Batman monitors public records to a degree and this gets flagged in the system bc it’s Jason’s death certificate.
Suspicious, but optimistic Bruce informs the rest of the family what he has found out and ask them to come as back up for when he goes to find Jason. He’s investigated and is sure that the family who helped rehabilitate Jason is clean and nice people but he wants his son back. They others also wanna see Jason but are worried if this is a good idea since Jason hasn’t reach out himself and there is paperwork for an adoption in the system. But Bruce decides to track them down anyway.
Bruce shows up as the Nightingale’s door and asks to see Jason. Danny, sympathetic, agrees on the condition Jason wants to see him. Jason is hesitant, but decided it would be good way for both of them to get closure and agrees. Bruce and Jason have a tearful reunion and a long heartfelt conversation at the end of which Bruce says “Let’s go home son”. To which Jason has to awkwardly break it to him, but he has no intention of leaving the Nightingale’s and returning to the Manor. He lets him know that he’s open to meeting the rest of the family at least once more but that Danny is his dad now and Ellie and Jordan are his little siblings.
Bruce is devastated.
He lets the rest of the family know and they all make their visits while Bruce wallows in despair. Normally he wouldn let it go, but he just can’t stand to lose Jason another time. So he decides to take Danny to court in the hopes of getting visitation rights if not split custody.
It’s one of the weirdest cases to hit the Gotham courts: two dads who were never together in any capacity but aren’t antagonistic of each other, are trying to come to a custody agreement over their adopted resurrected child in family court.
Over the course of the court case Bruce sees what a good dad Danny is and bonds with his two “bio” kids. Meanwhile Danny gets to meet Dick, Tim, and Cass (Bruce’s legal kids as of rn) and gets to talk to them about their experiences with Bruce and how much they want to form/reform relationships with Jason. They do form a healthy respect for each other, and accept each other’s places in Jason’s life.
Court case ends up working out in favor of Danny. It’s split custody but he gets custody of Jason majority of the time (as per Jason’s own wishes) and Bruce and the Wayne's still have partial custody and open contact with the Nightingales.
Over the years kids all start to see each other as siblings and both Bruce and Danny as their dads. By the time Damian shows up Bruce and Danny have been functionally co-parenting each others kids for years. They provide support to each other’s kids that the other parent may not be well equipped to, but helping each other improve.
When Damian does arrive his superiority complex is quickly curbed and Bruce puts him into counseling on Danny and Jason’s recommendation. It takes a while, but Damien slowly finally opens up and gets to act like a real kid. Ellie and Jordan, who are around the same age (maybe a bit younger?), love having him over to roughhouse and play princesses/knights/dragons (but with politics and consequences). Sometimes they’ll go out and trick people into thinking they’re triplets.
It’s actually Damien who first suggests parent-trapping Bruce and Danny so that they can be one big family. He obviously gets Dan and Ellie to agree first. Then the three of them bag Tim and Cass. The five of them approach Dick next. Jason is actually the hardest to convince but the manage to get his approval. Thus, these guys try to set up the Oblivious Danny and the Emotionally Constipated Bruce.
And for Flavor, just when it looks like they’re about to get together, one of their past love interests comes into the mix, re-entering their parents’ live just to stir the pot. (Which ex is up to your imagination: Sam, Talia, Val, Selina, Tucker, Wes, Minhkhoa, Harvey)

The incompetence and corruptness of the Ontario court system
I am Robert Glegg, the Applicant in the Application for Leave to Appeal in the matter described below. This case is about my daughter, Olivia Glegg (“Olivia”). The Respondents in this case are Justice for Children and Youth et al. (“JFCY”) and Hazel and Armando Flores (the “Floreses”). JFCY is a branch of the legal system in Ontario with the purported mandate to help children. Beginning in late 2015 the Floreses, and then in 2016, JFCY also, maliciously and illegally interfered in my relationship with Olivia, for whom I had sole custody.
Tumblr media
The incompetence and corruptness of the Ontario court system played an enormous part in abetting the behaviour of the Respondents, and in allowing the ensuing catastrophe with Olivia and me to unfold. In addition, given the highly irregular manner in which my file was recently handled by the Supreme Court of Canada (the “SCC”), I am requesting an investigation into my entire file. This letter briefly outlines the key events that occurred in this case, including some crucial background before JFCY became involved. All the details are backed up by exhaustive and definitive evidence provided in the proceedings. Visit us to know more about Custody rights in Ontario.

Florida's Custody Law A Challenge in Addressing Parental Child Abduction
In Florida, the current custody law presents a significant challenge for custodial parents facing interference from the other parent. Under the existing framework, Florida’s exemption effectively blocks parent versus parent claims for custodial interference in civil courts. This legal gap can leave custodial parents vulnerable, as their concerns about interference are often dismissed without proper recourse.
Compounding this issue is the fact that criminal penalties for parental child abduction are rarely enforced. This lack of accountability creates an environment where the risks associated with child abduction are diminished, potentially encouraging harmful behavior among non-custodial parents. The absence of robust legal protections not only undermines the custodial parent's rights but also places children at risk of instability and emotional distress.
Tumblr media
To combat these challenges, advocacy for legal reforms is essential. Lawmakers need to address the loopholes that currently allow parental interference to go unchallenged. Strengthening the enforcement of custodial rights in civil courts and imposing stricter penalties for abduction can create a more balanced legal landscape.
By fostering a legal environment that prioritizes children's welfare and parental accountability, Florida can protect custodial parents and, ultimately, ensure a safer, more stable upbringing for children caught in the crossfire of custody disputes. Addressing these issues is vital for promoting justice and stability within families.

No bc you guys, Nicky Hemmick was twenty and he was living in Germany and for the first time he was with people who loved him without trying to change who he was. He was learning to love himself, to accept the things that he’d spent his life believing made him evil and broken and worthless, and see that they were beautiful. He had gotten out.
And then, somehow—maybe through his parents, maybe through the cousin he’d only really known for the few months their time in Columbia had overlapped before Nicky left for Germany—he found out that his aunt was dead, that his cousins (and Nicky had only met one of them, but they were twins, and they’d been separated for their whole lives) were either going into the system or into his parents’ custody.
And maybe, for a moment, he reasoned that they were sixteen. That it would only be a few years before they were adults and could make their own choices on where to live, on how to live. But he also remembered that house, and he remembered what it was like to live there and how he’d tiptoed around it. He remembered who he was, then; how much less of himself he’d had to be. And he packed his bags and moved—not home, not anymore, but still back; back to South Carolina, back to Columbia, back to the cousins who needed him even if they didn’t quite seem to want him.
And they figured things out, slow and messy—the custody arrangement, getting the house, establishing a life. Nicky taught the twins German, and he tried his best to teach them what it meant to be loved, and even if they weren’t quite a family yet, to the twins, they were to Nicky. Even if he was only twenty and what he had to offer could never be enough, they were worth enough for him to try.
